PROTECTING YOUR SKIN THROUGH PHYSICAL THERAPY
Protecting the skin involves more than daily regimens and topicals that moisturize or nourish the skin. It also involves promoting healing after an injury and preventing wounds from developing following unfortunate events that reduce mobility. Physical therapy offers a beneficial approach to skin protection through various therapeutic techniques that reinforce skin maintenance.
An ankle sprain is a soft tissue injury that often develops due to twisting or inverting the ankle. Ligaments are typically affected when you sprain your ankle. Placing too much pressure on your ankle as it heals and improper movements can disrupt the healing process. Physical therapists are experts at guided exercises that promote recovery.
Remember to always bike defensively, remain focused, and stay alert. Cycle in the same direction as the traffic, wear a helmet, and ensure that your clothes or lights are bright and visible. Most importantly, obey the traffic laws, pay attention to your surroundings, and try to anticipate potential hazards on the road.

ALZHEIMER'S & BRAIN AWARENESS MONTH
June is Alzheimer's & Brain Awareness Month. Alzheimer's and other conditions that affect the brain can lead to memory loss and additional issues that disrupt daily functioning. Physical therapists work with individuals who have Alzheimer's or other cognitive impairments to help them continue to move safely and experience a healthy quality of life.
