Carl Wighardt

Carl Wighardt,
MSPT, FMSC, SFMA

Carl Wighardt is a physical therapist in Haverhill, MA and founder of Gemini Physical Therapy Spine & Sports Rehabilitation Center. He graduated with honors from Northeastern University in 1994 and received his master’s degree at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Mr. Wighardt pursued advanced training in mechanical based diagnosis and treatment from the McKenzie Institute, McConnell Institute, Mark Laslett, P.T., Brian Mulligan, P.T., Gray Cook, P.T. and Wayne Rath, P.T.. Carl specializes in mechanically oriented treatment with an emphasis on orthopedic and sports related injuries.

Mr. Wighardt has worked with many local athletes at the high school, college, and minor league level.

Mr. Wighardt is an independent medical consultant for several insurance companies reviewing treatment plans and making recommendations for other physical therapy facilities throughout the region. Mr. Wighardt has served as clinical instructor for several colleges and universities. His hobbies include hiking/biking, general physical fitness activities, martial arts and continuing education coursework.

Popi Gianakouras

Popi Gianakouras,
MSPT, DPT

Popi Gianakouras, MSPT, DPT, is a physical therapist in Haverhill, MA.  She graduated from Boston University with a B.A in psychology, cum laude, and earned her Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Miami with high honors, where she received the Award for Clinical Excellence. She completed her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the MGH Institute of Health Professions.

Ms. Gianakouras has worked with a wide variety of diagnoses and patient types including orthopedic, athletic, and post-surgical patients. She has advanced coursework with emphasis on orthopedic and athletic injuries, and has completed continuing education courses with the McKenzie Institute and the McConnell Institute. Her clinical interest is injury prevention and treatment of female athletes.

Ms. Gianakouras has taught courses in orthopedic injury at several conferences and has an extensive amount of experience working with local high school and college athletes.

Ms. Gianakouras is an APTA credentialed clinical instructor for physical therapy and physical therapy assistant students from several local universities. She is a member of the Orthopedic and Sports Sections of the American Physical Therapy Association and the American College of Sports Medicine.

Caitlin Heindl

Caitlin Heindl,
DPT

Caitlin Heindl, DPT completed her B.S. in Biology and Biotechnology at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) and earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. While at WPI, Caitlin was a member of the rowing team and competed nationally & internationally. During this time, she developed an interest in sports-related injury and rehabilitation. She has experience working with patients in a variety of settings including outpatient rehabilitation and nursing facilities.

Caitlin had previously worked for Gemini PT as a rehabilitation specialist and rejoined the team in 2017. She is very excited to be back with the Gemini family as are the staff and patients.

Caitlin is a member of the American Physical Therapy association. Her hobbies include running, rowing, hiking, skiing/snowboarding, and most any general outdoor activities.

 

Jared McFarland

Jared McFarland,
DPT

Jared McFarland, DPT graduated from Keene State College with a B.S. in Exercise Science and concentration in coaching, magna cum laude, and earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy from the University of Miami graduating with high honors. During his time at Keene State College, Jared was a personal trainer and student assistant strength and conditioning coach and completed a strength and conditioning internship working with a wide range of clients and athletes of all ages and fitness levels. During his senior year he was awarded Personal Trainer of the Year. It was at this time while working with a client recovering from a rotator cuff injury that he developed an interest in Physical Therapy and rehabilitation. At UM he worked as a Graduate Assistant helping the cohort below him with Musculoskeletal examination and treatment. He has clinical experience working with patients in outpatient rehabilitation and Acute care settings.

Jared previously worked for Gemini PT as a rehabilitation specialist and rejoined the team in 2021. He is excited be back and help patients get back to what they love.

Jared’s hobbies include hiking, golfing, playing drums, home brewing, and watching sports.
